Reforms on Post-Graduate Work Permit eligibility
The federal government has announced reforms through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada that affect international students and their eligibility for the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). Obviously, this raises fears and questions for many of you regarding your study programs and your eligibility.
That said, at Collège O’Sullivan de Montréal Inc., our Computer Science Technology program and Administration and Management Technology programs are not affected by this new reform. This means that international students who want to enroll in these 2 programs will not have additional restrictions to obtain their PGWP at the end of their studies.
To summarize:
If an international student (IEP) applies for a study permit before November 1 and submits a PGWP application on or after November 1:
- Only the the language requirement will need to be met
If an international student applies for a study permit on or after November 1, they will need to satisfy BOTH these requirements in order to submit for a PGWP :
- The language requirement
AND
- The Program requirements (Both our programs 420 and 410 are eligible).
It is important to note that updates are continuously emerging and may affect the eligibility of additional programs such as Techniques juridiques, for the PGWP.
To provide more information and address any questions or concerns, our admissions department will be hosting a LIVE session on Instagram on Friday November 1st at 11 a.m. Eastern time. We encourage you to join us for this important discussion.
